The ataman of the Russian Cossack society “South-East” Sergei Shishkin reported According to him, the Cossacks have already concluded relevant agreements with two capital commissariats - in Lyublino and Kuzminki.

Shishkin explained that a representative of the Cossacks is included in each draft commission. “Previously, we mainly participated in commission meetings and conducted explanatory work with conscripts and talked about the service. And this year we will start actively visiting apartments,” he said.

According to Shishkin's estimates, up to 1.4 thousand Cossacks could be involved in such work. “We will also connect other Cossack societies that will be able to work throughout Moscow,” added the ataman.

Last year in Moscow, for the first time, Cossacks were involved in patrolling the capital's streets. Special Cossack patrols came to the aid of the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers in maintaining law and order. Their tasks include patrolling forested areas, recreational areas for Muscovites, as well as areas adjacent to Orthodox churches and monasteries. In addition, it was decided to involve Cossacks to assist the police during mass cultural, entertainment and religious events.

The fight against army evaders has also intensified at the legislative level. As RBC previously wrote , in February 2015, a bill was introduced to the State Duma according to which persons who evaded military service without good reason would be prohibited from traveling outside Russia for five years. In addition, the document proposes to ban draft dodgers from holding state and municipal positions for five years.
