David Allen died

Today, March 13, at the age of 77, the Australian musician David Allen, one of the founders of the Soft Machine group, founder and leader of the Gong group, died.

It is reported by The Guardian . The news of the death of Allen was also confirmed on Facebook by his son.

The musician had cancer, in early February, the doctors said that he had a resident left for no more than six months. After that, Allen published a statement stating that he would not fight the inevitable, doing “endless operations”.

David Allen was born in 1938 in Melbourne, his musical career began after moving to the UK in 1961. In 1966, he became one of the founders of the legendary Soft Machine , but wide fame came to him after he created the Gong group in France.

Allen participated in the record of Gong's main albums - “Flying Teapots” (1973), “Angel's EGG” (1974) and “You” (1974), which are part of the Radio Gnome trilogy. In 1975, Allen left the group, but revived her again in the early 1990s and played in it until 2014, until the disease forced him to refuse to participate in the next round.
