Users of social networks consider the helicopters scattered over the center of Moscow. Analysts are gossip: the patient is either alive or dead. Informed sources predict a coup, but they can’t agree in any way, who will turn anyone over. And what, in fact, happened?
So once in the conversations they buried Brezhnev - it was worth turning away. Social networks have not yet been invented, so I had to focus exclusively on classical music. It was worth the All -Union radio to launch strict melodies instead of the program "On the Working Half", it was worth the dictators to start reading the news about the successes of the textile industry leaders with slightly less cheerful voices, as we already knew: that’s it. He was silent.
Then, however, it turned out that it was a month dedicated to the anniversary of Comrade Prokofiev. Or that everything is really, but Suslov. Also, of course, a lot, but waited for more. The most important thing, however, is not this, but the fact that Soviet people, as a primitive tribe in a darkened cave, lived exclusively with this expectation of the death of the leader - some with hope, who was with fear, but waited that it would all end soon.
In the days of Gorbachev or Yeltsin, no one followed the necrologists. No one considered Yeltsin disappearance even at a time when the president had a strong handshake. And the Kremlin itself did not live in fear of information. About what was happening behind his walls - when it was about issues of fundamental, issues of life and death - every Russian knew. And the cardiac surgeon Michael Debakes was the same hero of Russian television news as the presidential spokesman.
A return to the primitive state happened quickly and confidently, as if the inhabitants of Russia did not try to get out of their cave and understand that outside the world, in which they did not expect necrologists and did not consider helicopters. The point is not even that official propaganda for decades sculpts from the Yeltsin heir to the superhero, unable to catch a cold, stumble, make a mistake and even get married, works with documents. And not that any truthful information about the actions and intentions of the Russian authorities gave way to propaganda and lies - so even a reasonable person will not believe in a quite realistic version of what is happening, and the average consumer is ready to agree with any nonsense, no matter what he would pile up there.
The fact is that Russia again turned into a country of daily expectation of an obituary. And no considerations of common sense - it is not a matter of it, he is a product of the system, do not wish it bad, the next will be even worse - they will not change this atmosphere. People in Russia are used to - the death of the leader is always to change. Stalin died - and, despite the firmness of his successors and the preservation of the cannibalist system, much has changed beyond recognition. Brezhnev died - and the "race on the carriages" began, and followed by perestroika, publicity, both the CPSU and the Soviet Union disappeared. Why should it be assumed that it will be different now, even if Volodin himself claims that Putin is Russia and there will be nothing after him?
Therefore, they are waiting. Those who clung to the system with a dead grip are horror. Whom she holds by the throat with her icy hands of the old sexot - with hope. They are waiting, realizing that from themselves - both those who are, and those who are against - nothing in this life depends. That it remains only to warm up by the fire, count helicopters and listen to classical music.
Somewhere nearby, right at the entrance to the cave, spring drops will already ring. People go to demonstrations, argue about their future, gather in squares, applaud the reformers and drive dictators. But all this is not about Russia. The country living in the expectation of death is hardly able to understand the logic of life.
