In the center of Nizhny Novgorod, a banner with a portrait of Boris Nemtsov was removed from the facade of a building owned by local businessman German Knyazev. This was reported by the Interfax agency.
Knyazev said that on March 10, instead of the previously removed banner with Nemtsov, he hung a new banner, which depicted a portrait of the murdered politician and a phrase from President Vladimir Putin’s speech at the collegium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation: “We must finally rid Russia of shame and tragedies, like the one ... like the daring assassination of Boris Nemtsov right in the center of the capital.”
Knyazev said that the banner was removed from the balcony for two hours, to remove the banner, the police resorted to the help of a fire engine.
“They will take him to a linguistic examination for extremism,” Knyazev said, adding that he told law enforcement officers about the authorship of the text on the banner. Knyazev also clarified that he plans to hang a new banner: "I think one poster will be enough for them."
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod said that an investigation is underway into the appearance of the banner.
On March 4, Knyazev already hung a poster on the same building with the image of Nemtsov and the inscription: “Whom will you kill next to defeat your own chimeras?” The police arrived to remove the poster within an hour, and were very concerned about the word "chimeras". A protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up, an audit is underway, and witnesses are being interviewed.
Boris Nemtsov was killed on the night of February 28 in the center of Moscow. Five people have been arrested in the case.
