Chernyakov set Parsifal in Berlin

On March 28, the premiere of Wagner in the production of Dmitry Chernyakov and Daniel Barenboym will take place in the Berlin State Opera.

This is their fourth joint Berlin project after Boris Godunov, Mussorgsky (2005), the “player” of Prokofiev (2008) and the “royal bride” of Rimsky-Korsakov (2013). In addition, for the Russian director Parsifal will be the first production of Wagner outside of Russia.

The Parsifal party will be played by the dramatic tenor Andreas Shager, who will play the same role at the Bayroit festival in the 2017/18 season. In addition to Andreas Shager, Anya Kampe (Kundri), Bas Rene Papa (Gurnemantz), Bas Bariton Wolfgang Koch (Amportas), Bariton Thomas Thomon (Klingszor), Bas Matthias Halle (Titurel), Berlin State Capella and the Berlin State Opera Choir are employed in the performance.

The production artist Elena Zaitseva, the artist in the world Gleb Filchensky, Hormaster Martin Wright and playwright Jens Srrok also worked on the production.

Until April 18, five more premiere performances of the Parsifal will take place at the Schiller Theater, while reconstruction of its historical building is being reconstructed.
