Apple will take devices with Android as payment

Apple plans to accept devices based on Android OS as a payment for new models of its products, Bloomberg reports with reference to an unnamed Corporation source.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, Apple will launch the Trade-in system. Its essence is that owners of devices with Android will be able to hand them over in Apple stores and receive a significant discount. In addition to Android devices, BlackBerry smartphones can be included in the program. A similar program has been operating in relation to Apple products since 2013: Owners of the iPhone and other devices of old models receive a more new discount.

Bloomberg recalls that next month new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones will go on sale. Sellers of mobile devices suggest that the new proposal will force the owners of previous Samsung models to think good about buying new ones.

Apple did not comment on the start of the program.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, Apple sold about 74.5 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. This is 46% more than a year earlier. By the end of the year, the American company was ahead of Samsung for world sales of smartphones.

According to the research company Gartner, in the third quarter of 2014, Samsung became the leader in smartphone sales. Its market share was 24.4%. Apple's share was 12.7%.
