Denmark may be subjected to nuclear strike from Russia. The Russian ambassador to the kingdom Mikhail Vanin reported this in the author’s column for the Jyllands Posten newspaper. The reason for such a decision of Moscow, the diplomat called the Danes' desire to place NATO missile defense systems on their territory.
"I do not believe that the inhabitants of Denmark are fully aware of the consequences of what will happen if their country enters the pro -led system of the pro. And there will be that the Danish warships will become targets for Russian nuclear missiles," the ambassador wrote.
The Pronatovo vector of Copenhagen will cause significant damage to the Danish-Russian relations, warned Vanin. “Of course, this is only your decision. I just wanted to remind you - you will lose both money and safety,” he added.
The words of the head of the Russian representative office outraged Danish politicians, the publication notes. Foreign Minister Martin Lidegard called the statement of the ambassador unacceptable. According to the minister, the NATO systems are defenders and Russians know this. Leidegard noted that, despite the disagreements on various political moments, it is important to prevent further intensity in bilateral relations.
The authorities of Denmark intend to prepare a technical and economic justification, on the basis of which a decision will be made to equip one or more frigates of the Navy with new radar stations. These radars will allow ships to include ships in the Europrop system.
According to the plans, the formation of Europrop should end by 2018. The Russian authorities believe that the deployment of a missile defense system in Europe is a threat to national security. In particular, such a system can level the capabilities of the Russian nuclear shield and violate the parity of the United States and Russia in terms of strategic missile weapons.
