Bashkana was chosen in the Moldavian Gagauzia

In Moldova, the elections of Bashkan (chapters) of the autonomous-territorial education of Gagauzia took place. At 18:30 (19:30 Moscow time), the turnout amounted to 52%, exceeding the necessary 50%necessary for recognition. This was reported to TASS in the Central Election Commission.

Ten candidates are running for the post of head of autonomy, all of them advocate rapprochement with Russia. According to public opinion polls, supported by the Party of Socialist, Irina Vlah is the favorite of the election race and may win in the first round. To do this, you need to gain more than 50% of the vote.

Among the potential winners of the elections, the former mayor of Komrat Nikolai Dudollo and Valery Yaniollo, deputy acting head of Gagauzia, Mikhail Formuzal, who leaves the post after two terms, is also called here.

Gagauzia is an autonomous territorial education in the south of Moldova. It was created from settlements in which more than 50 % of the inhabitants were Gagauz, as well as from those where most residents voluntarily agreed to enter the autonomy according to the results of referenda.

The head of Gagauzia - Bashkan - is elected for a period of 4 years, enters the Government of Moldova.
