23 people - of which 20 foreign tourists (one Russian woman) - became victims of the attack in Tunisia on March 18. The terrorists broke into the building of the Bardo Museum in the center of the capital and began to shoot visitors. The special forces arrived destroyed two and captured three attackers. This is the first act of mass terror in Tunisia, the militants of the radical group “Islamic State” (IG) took the responsibility for the attack.

It was in Tunisia in December 2010 that the Arab Spring began, which swept over most of the countries of North Africa. But here it turned out to be both the most bloodless and the most constructive. In conditions of democratization, the Islamists abandoned violence, which allowed them to get the majority in parliament. The Economist magazine called Tunisia a country that demonstrated in 2014 the greatest progress against the background of chaos in the region.

The terrorist attack, apparently, was actually committed by the militants of the underground group "Junud al-Khalifa" ("Warriors of the Caliphate"), trying to earn the recognition of IG. The terrorists waved to the reconstruction of the Historical Caliphate, where the territory of the current Tunisia entered the Middle Ages. By the way, the choice of the museum as a place for massacre is symbolic for the thugs of the IG, despising the "non-Muslim culture" and seek to intimidate everyone and everything. But Tunisia was not afraid-on the same day, the 18th, in the capital there was a mass protest against “hard Islamism” and a return to the Middle Ages.
