From April 1, Ukraine stops the purchase of natural gas from Russia. According to RBC-Ukraine, the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of the country Vladimir Demchishin stated this.

“There is no need to buy Russian gas,” the official explained. “To buy it at a price higher than we buy from Europe, it makes no sense.”

Demchishin added that he counts on a decrease in gas consumption in the country. Now Ukraine consumes 110 million cubic meters of this fuel per day. The minister expects this value to decrease by 20-30 million cubic meters.

The other day it became known that in April, Romania may abandon the import of Russian gas. As expected, in the coming months, the country's needs in this fuel will be covered at the expense of its own Romanian resources. As noted, this became possible due to a decrease in specific gas consumption by industry, as well as thanks to investment in energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, on March 21, Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said that Moscow and Kiev agreed to revise gas price on a quarterly . The official explained this decision by the instability of fuel prices. Novak also said that after April 1, Ukraine will continue to buy gas from Russia on prepayment.

Demchishin, for his part, stated that "at the moment the need to acquire gas from Gazprom does not have Kyiv." At the same time, he argued that Ukraine would still purchase small volumes of this fuel from Russia.
