The Russian Interior Ministry is planning to fire 110,000 people in order to reduce budget expenditures. This was announced to Vedomosti by Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev at a closed meeting with deputies, a source in the United Russia faction in the State Duma told.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not officially announced the scale of the staff reduction. Kolokoltsev publicly stated that "the parameters for optimizing the staffing levels have not been fully developed."
A source in the faction said that the reduction of personnel was discussed at the closed session: “The minister said that the reduction would require about 110,000 people, but as of today, the initial reduction will require the dismissal of 78,700 people.”
