A Russian aircraft customization center is being created in Ulyanovsk

This was stated by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region, Sergei Morozov, during the ceremony of handing over the SSJ 100 aircraft, painted by the Ulyanovsk OJSC Spektr-Avia for the Red Wings airline, noting that the regional government is interested in the speedy creation of such a center on the basis of Spektr-Avia. According to Vitaly Zotov, deputy director of Spektr-Avia, today, when a “green” aircraft is painted at one enterprise, the interior receives at another, and pre-sale preparation at a third, such a single customization center (manufacture of products for a specific consumer order by equipping it with additional elements and accessories, in this case installing the necessary interior and painting the aircraft) is in demand and necessary. Mr. Zotov notes that “Aviastar-SP, which today makes the interior for the SSJ 100, and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, and UAC are already interested in this.” It is planned that for the full operation of the center, in addition to the existing hangar-type building with an area of 1 hectare, accommodating any of the existing types of aircraft, two more similar buildings with a total area of 1.5 hectares will be built for short-haul and medium-haul aircraft. It is planned that the future center will be able to customize up to 70 SSJ 100 aircraft and up to 60 MS-21 aircraft per year, as well as An-148 and Be-200 aircraft. The total investment required to create a full-fledged center is estimated at 2.5 billion rubles. The management of Spektr-Avia OJSC plans to attract both borrowed funds and external investors, and also intends to take part in relevant government programs.
