LifeNews reported a search in the TV channel's editorial office

The LifeNews editorial office is undergoing searches authorized by the Investigative Committee, according to the channel’s website. As noted in the message, investigators are now “seizing documents and company servers.”

“Judging by the resolution, the human rights organization “Resistance” applied to the Investigative Committee with a request to check the editorial office, which drew the attention of investigators to the publication by the LifeNews website of information about two crimes directed against minors. At the same time, in accordance with all the requirements of the law, in the above stories the faces of the minor victims were blurred out, and their real names were not mentioned in the text,” the TV channel notes.

A short video posted on the channel’s website shows a man in the uniform of the expert criminological center of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Central Administrative District of Moscow confiscating documents.

“Currently, for the purpose of a comprehensive and objective verification, it is necessary to study the videos posted on the LifeNews website, as well as interview the people who posted these stories on the Internet,” the TV channel quotes the resolution of the Investigative Committee.

The TV channel does not specify which stories interested investigators. LifeNews has repeatedly published stories and notes about minors. In particular, in September last year, the TV channel actively covered the case of a Novosibirsk student who allegedly became a victim of gang rape.

The Resistance organization was founded in 2005 by the former head of the inter-commission working group to monitor the implementation of family policy at the Public Chamber, political consultant Olga Kostina. The movement supports victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings.
