"Horror will continue"

On March 21, 55 years old is a doct. physical. Sciences, Vedas. scientific. sore. IPPI RAS Andrei Rostovtsev - physics, one of the founders and creator of libraries for the Dissernet project. In addition to the actual scientific work, the preparation of scientific articles and graduate students, Andrei Africanovich, to identify fake dissertations and owners of academic degrees, two software complexes on Perles were created - “Disposerus” and “Mill”.

If the “dissertation” is looking for the coincidences of the text of the dissertation with all texts on the Internet and then has them in the form convenient for subsequent verification by experts, then the “mill” automatically takes all the authorized author -loaded abstracts and compares them with other abstracts. All texts that have not passed the verification of originality, then fall into the hands of experts-volunteers.

For two years of work, Dissernet, which started in early spring 2013, has been verified:

• about 30 thousand abstracts (the “mill” of Dissernet processes automatically 100 pieces per day);
• about 11 thousand dissertations;
• About 3,000 fake (with large -scale plagiarism) dissertations were found.

In the course of work in automatic mode, the dissertation in the economy was grinded from 2004 to 2011-2012. Now the Mill is checking the dissertations on legal sciences (there is a check of the work of 2007). In the project "Mill", individual universities and dissertation councils on the entire spectrum of scientific disciplines were also checked.
