The fugitive ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Zakharchenko became an expert of the State Duma

The former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vitaly Zakharchenko, who escaped to Russia after the victory of the Revolution of Dignity, was included in the expert council of the State Duma Committee by property. This was reported by Izvestia with reference to the head of the Communist Communist Sergei Gavrilov. The deputy explained that Zakharchenko will participate in the development of laws that protect Russian investments abroad, as well as promote the return of capital illegally withdrawn from the country.

In Russia, Zakharchenko works as a senior consultant to Rostec State Corporation. In addition, he is engaged in activities that he calls "charitable." Zakharchenko - President of the Southeast Foundation, who, according to him, should engage in the help of former law enforcement officers who suffered during the Euromaidan. In January, a fugitive ex-minister held a presentation of this fund in the occupied Sevastopol.

The Verkhovna Rada removed Zakharchenko from his post on February 21, 2014 - the day before the flight of President Viktor Yanukovych. On March 4, the former minister was wanted on suspicion of involvement in the shooting of the Euromaidanists, but at that time the official had already left the country.

In October 2014, the SBU declared Zakharchenko a suspect in the embezzlement of 160 million hryvnias (about $ 20 million during the crime) from the budget during the bankruptcy procedure of Transcarpat Polymetals and the Carpathian Ruda Company.

The USA, Canada and the European Union included Zakharchenko in its sanctions lists.

The former minister received Russian citizenship, but did not refuse Ukrainian.
