The resignation of Boris Mezdrich was informed by Interfax by the director of the Mikhailovsky Theater of St. Petersburg Vladimir Kekhman, who will now fulfill his duties.
"From tomorrow, I begin to fulfill the duties of the director of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater. I am now in Novosibirsk ... I will combine two positions - the director of Mikhailovsky and the director of the Novosibirsk Theaters," Kekhman said. Kehman did not report whether the theater will continue to work with the director of the play by Timofei Kulyabin. He also refused to talk about whether they would continue to give Tangaer on stage.
However, earlier Kekhman said that the Tangaer insults him as a Jew and “as an Orthodox”. “The performance needs to be removed from the repertoire,” the website of the Ministry of Culture quotes his words.
The performance was staged by the young director Timofei Kulyabin. The action in the play is transferred today. In the Kulyabin version, Jesus Christ became the hero of an erotic film, which is shot by the knight Tangaizer.
This week, the United Russia faction in the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region decided to contact the Minister of Medinsky with a request to resign the director of the theater.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture called on the creators of the setting to apologize to the audience and partially change it. The department noted that they do not consider censorship permissible, but they have the right to "take in extreme cases administrative and financial measures in relation to state institutions of culture, including depriving financing of such productions."
After that, the theater went towards the Russian Orthodox Church and removed the poster that offended believers from the stage.

In 2001-2008 - Director of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater.
In September 2008, Boris Mezdrich was transferred to the post of director of the Russian State Academic Drama Theater. F. Volkova (Yaroslavl).
In 2011, he was again appointed director of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
