Arnis Balus was born and lives in Riga, co -founder and organizer of the Festival "Riga month of photography".

From the author

This photo project is dedicated to the rituals of everyday life that has fallen out of our life due to socio-political changes. In 1991, Latvia gained independence, and in just a few years we parted with all monuments, symbols, characters and other things that designated our involvement in the Soviet Union. The history was rewritten - the politics, economics and personality of the First Latvian Republic was glorified, while the role of the Union in the history of our country was reduced to zero. Together with the communist ideology, we forgot the everyday habits and features of those times: how we worked and rested, what we ate and drank, how we joked, what cars we drove, what films and television programs and so on and so on. The consequence of such cultural amnesia is the disappearance of entire generations and cultures, the erasing of their ethos and customs from social memory.
