The Public Chamber proposes to create an art council at the Ministry of Culture to control the repertoire of state theaters in order to prevent provocative performances in them.

According to Izvestia , this proposal is supported in the Ministry of Culture and the presidential administration.

“You need to create an art expert council. - believes the head of the Commission on the Culture of the Public Chamber, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrei Kovalchuk. - In Soviet times, such tips were in all areas. Now many criticize this. The political component, of course, existed, and often it was harmful. But still, professionals who were judged only from the point of view of professional skill, imagery worked there. And therefore, in this case, the very understanding of the art expert council already in a new quality has the right to exist. But professionalism should be in the first place. On the other hand, public figures may also be in the council. ”

The Ministry of Culture said that it is not about censorship - “private theaters are free to put everything they want”, since they do not receive money from the budget.

“We are dealing with the fact that often for funds allocated from the budget to support culture and theaters in particular, we get a negative result. - said a senior employee of the ministry. - On the stage they put performances that discredit various groups of people and form a negative atmosphere in society. The creation of artistic councils for state support is necessary, it can be by analogy with cinema financing. ”

At the same time, he emphasized that it is also necessary to determine the norms that would not allow production in non -state theaters for budget money.
