Manuel de Oliveira was born in 1908, debuted in the cinema as an actor in 1928, in 1931 he shot his first film-“Work on the Doru River” ( Douro, Faina Fluvial ).

By the beginning of World War II, de Oliveira was considered a classic of Portuguese cinema.
