Türkiye promised to unblock Twitter

Turkish authorities unblock Twitter. The social network has agreed to remove the photos of the prosecutor, due to the publication of which it was blocked in Turkey. Earlier, Facebook agreed to do the same. Negotiations with YouTube are ongoing.

“Twitter has agreed to shut down accounts and remove images related to last week's prosecutor hostage. The site will be available soon,” the official said.

• On April 6, a Turkish court blocked 166 websites, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The authorities decided to restrict access to resources through which photographs of the prosecutor taken hostage were distributed. The Turkish authorities considered that the publication of photographs of the prosecutor with a gun to his head was propaganda of terrorism.
• Turkey has previously blocked Twitter for spreading audio recordings of government corruption through the service.
• Left-wing terrorists took the prosecutor hostage in the courtroom on 31 March. The siege of the building lasted 8 hours. As a result, the terrorists killed the prosecutor .
