In Moscow, they decided to change the life of the village of Teriberk, located in the Murmansk region, in which Andrei Zvyagintsev’s film “Leviathan” was shot. A group of metropolitan residents announced the launch of the Bolshaya Land project , which can "help develop rural territories and the provinces of Russia." They decided to start with the new Teriber. The creator of the farm cooperative Lavkalavka Bloger Boris Akimov is sure that the revival of Teriberka, who, after the film "Leviathan" "" symbol of Russian outback, hopelessness and longing "is quite real. He intends to open in the village of Aquafarme, develop tourism, build hotels, hold a festival of contemporary art. Also plans are to feed visitors to local cafes by sea hedgehogs, cod and mussels, build windmills and run along the Arctic Sea.

- It turned out naturally in our way that we are not just engaged in food, but we are engaged in people who produce this food. And behind each product we have a farmer, supplier, fisherman, a person who creates a delicious quality product. Naturally, he changes life around him, being somewhere in the province, in the village where he is farming. At some point (two years ago), the idea was born that, in addition to these farmers, there are other people who do not do agriculture, but do some other things somewhere in the vast vacia of the country, in small towns or villages, breaking stereotypes that it is impossible and impossible to live there. But they live and achieve success, at least, success in terms of feeling a full -fledged happy life. Thus, the idea of creating the project "Big Earth" was born, dedicated to people who are changing their lives here and now, their reality around themselves, their village, their small town.

After the film "Leviathan" was released, a big discussion flared up on the Internet about the film, from the place where everything was shot, about how well or bad to show the modern reality of the Russian hinterland. We decided that the most interesting thing about this is not to discuss the advantages or disadvantages of the film, but simply to take and come to the very place where the film was shot and try to find what we value in our business - people who, despite difficulties, act and achieve certain results. And if they help them somehow, illuminate their activities, help them build new economic, cultural, social ties, then this may become a turning point for changing the whole settlement, in this case, Teriberka. If this succeeds, then this will be a large symbolic effect, a symbolic act and, possibly, a model for further replication, ”says Boris Akimov.

He still has to meet with representatives of the Murmansk government - the governor of the region Marina Kovtun and the head of Teriberka Tatyana Trubilina. Earlier, she criticized the film "Leviathan" by Andrei Zvyagintsev, saying that life in her village is not so hopeless. The arrival of people from Moscow who want to change the village has heard about the arrival in Teriberka, but I have not yet been ready to talk about possible cooperation:

- They say they want to hold festivals, open restaurants. Is it pleasing or scaring you?

“I don’t know, I have nothing to say.”

- It is no secret that this is a wave of interest in the village rose after the release of Leviathan. Is everything bad in the village, as shown there?

- We live normally, usually, as elsewhere. There is both good and bad, as you have in Moscow. I did not like the film with my hopelessness.

We do not need festivals and do not need restaurants. We need other help

- How are you with jobs, for example?

- Until now, it was normal until the fish factory closed and half of the people have not lost their jobs. There is no work in Teriberk. People are leaving. As I understand it, they are looking for seasonal work.

-If people who can change something come to you-they will open cafes, restaurants, hotels, hold festivals, do you think this will help local residents?

- We do not need festivals and restaurants need restaurants. We need other help. But now I can’t tell you anything, because I did not talk to them and do not know what they want, ”said Tatyana Trubilina, head of Teriberka.

Sociologist Tatyana Vorozheykina believes that the idea of changing the life of the village of Teriberk is admirable for the better, but fears that the local authorities and especially the locals will not support her:

I think that they will face not only with the resistance of the authorities, but also with the apathy of local residents

- I treat this with the greatest enthusiasm. I believe that those obstacles on the path of normal life, which are so brilliantly presented to us by Andrei Zvyagintsev, of course, exist, but they can resist. And only in this resistance does it make sense. Moreover, I think that it is such a plan for the revival of life from below that is the only thing that can revive it. This is a great undertaking.

-Do you think the authorities in the field are ready for such creative projects, for the arrival of people who want to change something in this very Teriber?

- To be honest, I think that they will face not only with the resistance of power, but also at best - with apathy, or even the resistance of local residents. Because the parallel film "Fool" very vividly shows how people relate to the one who wants to save them against their will. Therefore, I think this is a difficult path, ”says sociologist Tatyana Vorozheikina.

Teriberka - a village in the Kola district of the Murmansk region. Located on the Murmansk coast of the Kola Peninsula at the mouth of the Teriberk River. In 2010, the population of the village was 957 people, at present more than half of the inhabitants left it due to unemployment.
