Ecuador's President tweets 'Heil Hitler'

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa responded to the critical tweet with a Nazi salute.

Former President Osvaldo Hurtado once again criticized the current leader of Ecuador, calling him "a typical fascist." Politician Guillermo Coches quoted the former head of state in a tweet. In response, Rafael Correa wrote: "Heil Hitler."

• Rafael Correa took over as president in 2007. The American media call him an authoritarian ruler, similar to the leaders of Venezuela and Cuba. Correa pursues his political opponents; journalists who disagree with the official point of view are imprisoned under him, and so on.
• The activities of the Ecuadorian president are mainly aimed at finding enemies - external and internal. In 2009, shortly before his re-election to the presidency, he declared several high-ranking military men to be American spies and fired them. In March 2015, Correa accused the CIA of destabilizing the country.
• In 2013, Rafael Correa said that he wants to be equal to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
