The artist Alexander Zhunev, who painted on one of the Perm houses of the crucified Yuri Gagarin, was detained by police, the Radio Says Moscow Radio Says. Police officers asked him to travel with them to the department for an explanation.

“While I’m going by car of the police, I am accompanied by three employees. I did not resist, I openly do it. They say just for explanation, because, apparently, the residents of the house said. But it is not yet clear, ”said Junev himself. Earlier, police officers came to his house in his absence.

On Monday, the deputy of the Perm City Duma, Yuri Utkin, said that he was insulted by the image of the crucified Gagarin. He noted that he received many calls with complaints from local residents. He called Zhunev’s act “a violation of public order”. According to him, the police should figure out the situation.

The artist Alexander Zhunev, in turn, noted that he does not consider his work offensive: “The believer should not insult Gagarin. The scientist will not insult Jesus - now it’s not the USSR. ” The image of the crucified astronaut has already been painted over.
