In mid -April, prayers will begin to read in Moscow temples to support import substitution. They were carried away by import substitution - the production of analogues of goods that are now bought abroad - and the Russian authorities. Similar programs were introduced earlier, but on April 2, the government’s efforts reached a new level - the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a plan, according to which it was necessary to produce 2059 goods by 2020 by 2020.
The reason is in the new Cold War of Russia with the West. So far, the sanctions of developed countries have not almost affected the supply of goods to Russia. The exception is the export of advanced oil and gas production technologies. But not yet evening, and the desire of the authorities to be safe, replacing imported goods in advance in domestic counterparts, is understandable. Is it real?
No. The New Times talked with experts, including the former Deputy Minister of Economic Development Andrei Klepach ( p. 18 ), a businessman from the Russian Forbes list Sergey Petrov ( p. 28 ), figured out the fresh foreign experience in the development of his own agriculture ( p. 24 ) and the practice of importing foreign drugs and medical equipment to Russia ( p. 22 ).
The result of our research is this: in the modern economy, almost any product is very complicated and consists of many components produced in different parts of the globe. To establish the production of analogues in five years is either impossible or expensive, or will lead to a fall in quality. The government seems to understand this and in fact do not hope to replace all 2059 imported positions.
This, however, does not mean that the authorities should not develop Russian industry, only the methods should be thinner and more modern, and not become another variety of Chuchha and the State Planning Commission.
But import dependence has a bright side. Russia depends on the West, but it also depends on us (albeit much weaker) - not only for oil and gas, but also in the launch of astronauts, the supply of missile engines, some types of software, and even for such unexpected points as simulators for the preparation of sailors. More economic interdependence - fewer reasons for the war.
