Ghosts

Gennady Kodin has been shooting “ghosts” for two years. During this time, he accumulated about fifty portraits of the inhabitants of the Morozovsky town in Tver. Now the photographer plans to organize a photo exhibition and publish an album. To do this, he needs a scholarship of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia. The New Times first publishes some pictures from this series

My childhood passed in the Tver Morozov barracks, in the so -called Morozovsky town. The Tver barracks, built more than 100 years ago, are still impressed by their scale and scope. They left an indelible mark in my heart. I remember everything: the once majestic factory buildings made of red brick, now dilapidated, huge pits on the roads, dilapidated and forgotten by everyone in the center of our street, gaping in the failures of broken windows ...

Against the backdrop of these centuries -old people, people who lived next to me look like shadows.

People without the past ...

People with a real, complete hard, exhausting work, and with the same hopeless future ...

The whole dynasties of alcoholics and drug addicts, whose children are abandoned to the mercy of fate and are brought up by the street ...

People without "extra" thoughts and hopes ...

It is they who are the true ghosts of the modern city.

About them my project.

The purpose of the project, lasting for more than two years, is to show the authorities of the city of Tver and the whole of Russia, in what conditions and in what atmosphere entire generations of invisible people live. They do not live on the outskirts, not on the settlements, not in the villages - almost in the center of the city! To do this, I would like to organize an exhibition of this project at the Central Exhibition Center of Tver. I would also like to publish a book with a circulation of 100 copies and give part of the circulation to the government of the Tver region.

They should know. They must open their eyes.
