The representative of the state prosecution requested three years conditionally for an employee of the “Fund for Combating Corruption” by Georgy Alburov, accused in the case of the theft of the picture, wrote on Twitter a spokeswoman for Alexei Navalny Kira Yarmysh.
The prosecutor Stepan Volodin announced that the damage caused to the artist Sergei Sotovy can be considered significant, based on his pension of 11 thousand rubles and the salary of a janitor of 4.8 thousand rubles, Mediazona reports . The cost of the picture was originally estimated by an artist of 100 rubles, in court the estimate was called 5 thousand rubles.
The representative of the victim Oleg Rall considered that Alburov’s fault was fully proven, but noted that Sotov asked the court not to punish the accused strictly.
The lawyer of the accused Anna Polozova considered that the reason for initiating a criminal case was his place of work - the “Foundation for the Combat Corruption” - and also recalled that the prosecutor’s office did not initially find a criminal offense committee in the material. According to him, after that, the investigator Alexei Alekseev did not send the case to the Prosecutor General’s Office, but to Vladimir, where they did not dare to refuse to transfer materials to the court. In addition, the lawyer indicated an interview with Sotov to the journalist Ilya Shepelin, where the artist admitted that he signed a statement to the police, which was provided to him by people who submitted the employees of the city administration.
The painting “Bad Good Man” was found during searches in the apartment of opposition Alexei Navalny. According to investigators, Alburov and another FBK employee - Nikita Kulachenkov - stolen a picture. Polozova’s lawyer insists that "the drawing was placed on the fence, was not signed - nothing indicated his purpose." The criminal case was instituted under part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft by a group of persons by prior conspiracy with causing significant damage to the citizen).
