The court in Kazan in absentia arrested billionaire Semin in the case of a fire in the Admiral shopping center

The Soviet District Court of Kazan in absentia arrested until May 11 the chairman of the board of directors of the AS Management Criminal Code Alexei Semin in the case of a fire in the Admiral shopping center, RIA Novosti reports .

The extension of the billionaire detention will be calculated from the moment of extradition to Russia, TASS reports . The issue of extradition has not yet been considered. The defense of Alexei Semin will appeal the decision on his absentee arrest.

On April 14, the Investigative Department of the IC of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tatarstan declared a billionaire on an international wanted list. The UK on April 13 in absentia charged Semin in violation of fire safety requirements, abuse of powers, forgery of documents and other crimes.

In total, Semin is accused of four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The same accusations were brought by Robert Khairullin to CEO of AS Management. According to the investigation, the structures controlled by Semin and Khairullin bought the premises of the Sickle and Hammer plant, which were given the name of the shopping complex. The building was leased to Zarya. Investigators claim that the shopping center was not equipped with a fire extinguishing system, and the Dawn leadership knew about this, but did not eliminate violations.

At the end of March, Semin, who lives most of his time in his castle in France, promised the investigation that he would return to Russia. Earlier, the businessman said that he does not agree with the accusations and does not consider himself guilty.

The fire in the Admiral shopping center occurred on March 11, 17 people died. In the case of a fire of 12 defendants, including the general director of the Autonant of the Center of Huseyn Gahramanov, inspectors of the Republican Gosstroynadzor, three workers and two bailiffs.
