The European Commission will bring Google charges of violation of antimonopoly laws

The antimonopoly regulatory authority of the European Union decided to bring to the American company Google official accusations of violating antimonopoly legislation. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to its own sources.

According to the publication, the corresponding decision was made by the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junker at a consultation with the chairman of the antimonopoly service Margret Westager. The European Commissioner will officially charge Google on April 15, the newspaper sources say.

In accordance with the legislation of the European Union, Google can be fined worth more than $ 6 billion. This amount is 10% of the company's annual revenue.

WSJ notes that this case in the field of competition can be the largest ten years after the EU has persecuted Microsoft Corporation.

The investigation initiated by the European Commission against Google lasts for five years. According to the members of the European regulator, the company integrated its own services into the operating system. Representatives of Google noted that users of its Android operating system can choose which applications to use.

As a witness in this case, the Russian company Yandex was involved, which expressed support for the antimonopoly authorities of the European Union in the investigation against Google. In February 2015, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) opened a case against the American corporation for violation of Russian antimonopoly legislation.
