It was previously reported that a Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral to launch the Dragon space truck into orbit. It will deliver about 2 tons of cargo to the ISS, including equipment for scientific experiments.

The first attempt was made in January. The device was supposed to return to the floating platform, which received the official name of an autonomous unmanned spaceport vessel. The Falcon returned almost undamaged, but did not have enough hydraulic fluid to maneuver the rudder and crashed into the platform.

Musk posted a photo on his Twitter profile showing the rocket unable to level itself and landing at a 45-degree angle. The impact of the collision with the platform destroyed the landing struts and shattered the engine compartment, which led to the ignition of the remaining fuel.

Even before the launch, the probability of successful landing of the stage was estimated at approximately 50%, however, SpaceX promised to continue such experiments. If successful, Musk is confident that SpaceX will be able to use the upper stage many times, which will radically change the costs of space flights.
