The creator of the Star Wars film saga, George Lucas, will build affordable housing in one of the most expensive places to live in California - in Marin County on the Pacific coast north of San Francisco. The billionaire Hollywood director has owned a studio complex in Marin County for decades. Previously, Lucas' attempts to expand the film studio had failed due to resistance from wealthy neighbors. According to wealthy residents of the area, Lucas is trying to start a “class war,” and his initiative will harm the rural atmosphere and significantly increase the amount of car traffic, as well as reduce real estate prices in the area.

According to The Times , Lucas plans to build 224 economy homes on his land. Development plans for a new residential area at the Lucas studio complex were handed over to local authorities this week. This document provides for the construction of 120 two- and three-room apartments for the working population and 104 two-room apartments for pensioners.

In addition, the director plans to build a community center, a swimming pool, an orchard, a micro-farm and a warehouse. "We have enough millionaires here. What we need is a few houses for people who work regularly," Lucas explained in a television interview.
