The Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill, who performed on a bright Friday the Divine Liturgy in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, called on believers entering the temple, "not to blaspheme God" and not destroy the harmony of inappropriate behavior, evil thoughts and empty words.

"The most important decoration of the temples is the people, the praying community. “In the temple, one cannot think about anyone badly. In the temple, we must expel all evil out of our consciousness in order to stay before the Lord in the simplicity of cordial and readiness to accept his divine grace,” the Patriarch added.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church also noted that caring for the external beauty of temples and monasteries does not stem from any human aesthetic, deprived of spiritual foundations, but from "the demand to contemplate the phenomena of divine beauty, the manifestation of this worldwide law of harmony."

This is not the first time the head of the Russian Orthodox Church is addressing the ministers of the church and parishioners with a call to behave worthy in the temple and, in particular, to a benevolent attitude to the church.

“Everything possible must be done to end forever with the completely inadmissible facts of an inattentive, and sometimes even rude attitude,” the Patriarch said at a bishop's meeting in February this year.

Earlier, he made a special appeal to representatives of the clergy and to everyone who takes an active part in the parish life, in which he spoke about the need to especially take care of those who first came to the temple.

According to the Patriarch, it is unacceptable when the clergy and parishioners treat such people indifferently or unkind.

Everyone who recently discovered the road to the temple for himself, “must meet here genuine love and friendly explanations of how the temple is arranged, how the parish lives, how to take part in his life,” the patriarch said.

In June last year, at the next meeting of the Supreme Church Council, the Patriarch expressed indignation at the rude appeal of the ministers of one of the capital's temples with people who entered it. He urged priests and rectors to be more attentive to the organization of parish life, not allowing inhospitable treatment of parishioners in his temples.

According to the patriarch, during the commission of the Divine Liturgy in honor of the throne holiday in one of the Moscow temples filled with praying, it was difficult for him to hear rudeness, which could not be linked to the church atmosphere. " As the Patriarch explained, the people who entered this temple became the object of a hostile attitude "by local workers, and not only local workers, but also local regulars - parishioners." As a result, they did not wait for the end of the service, simply “turned around and left,” the patriarch said.

“If we develop this way, then we will lose more than to find more. Because these people who repel with their rudeness that have come to the temple again do more damage than all our efforts to organize the parish life,” said the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The parish "hospitality" has long become a parable in the tongue and the topic of many jokes, the patriarch admitted. Priests, he noted, should be more attentive to the activities of local church ministers and "even permanent parishioners who consider themselves some owners of the situation in the parish." “We cannot allow such people to destroy the good feelings of those who come to the temple, perhaps with the desire to become a member of the arrival, churching, join in church life ... In this regard, the head of the Russian Church called for more actively developing missionary activities in parishes so that specific people - parish missionaries who went through the appropriate training.
