The leader of the DPR Zakharchenko is waiting for a disruption of the peace process, wants more territory

The leader of the self -proclaimed "Donetsk People’s Republic" Alexander Zakharchenko said that the agreement on the ceasefire in Ukraine would most likely break. In an interview with the Air Force, he demanded from Ukraine the recognition of the DPR and said that the separatists intend to expand the territories under their control. At the same time, he accused Kyiv of preparing for the war.

The Air Force recalls that all week in the center of Donetsk, shooting was heard. The Ukrainian army and separatists claim that they took away heavy weapons from the contact line, but at the same time they accuse each other of preparing offensive operations and the concentration of military equipment.

Against this background, Zakharchenko assumes that the Minsk agreements concluded with the participation of Russia and with the mediation of the leaders of the Western countries are doomed to failure. The DPR leader emphasized that the Minsk agreements make sense only if Kyiv recognizes the self -proclaimed republic.

The independence of the "people's republics" is not provided for by the agreements, in the documents they are called "individual regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine." Kyiv plans to hold elections under Ukrainian laws in the territories of the republics. Separatists' leaders are categorically opposed to this settlement point.

Alexander Zakharchenko also claims that the borders of the republic headed by him in the future should be significantly expanded and include a significant part of the territory that is currently under the control of the Ukrainian army. The Air Force does not specify which regions or settlements are talking about.

In the administration of the President of Ukraine, in response to a request to comment on the words of Zakharchenko, they said: "Ukraine fully fulfills the Minsk agreements. Donbass is an integral part of Ukraine."
