In their opinion, it was in this linseed canvas 4.4 meters long and 1.3 meters wide that the body of Jesus Christ was wrapped before the burial. Despite the fact that officially the Catholic Church does not recognize the cloakie genuine, it is considered an important shrine that stores the memory of the passions of Christ.

Disputes about the authenticity of the Turin raincoat, on which the obscure outlines of the human face appear, have been underway for many centuries. The first messages about it are dated 1353, in Turin, the veil has been stored since 1578. In the 1980s, a radiocarbon analysis was carried out, which showed that the shroud was made at the end of the XIII-XIV century and was a fake. However, some researchers believe that a later example was taken for analysis - a fragment restored in the Middle Ages.

The Christian relic is openly demonstrated for the first time since 2010, it will be exhibited for the public until June 24-in honor of the 200th anniversary of Ionna Boszo, the Holy Catholic Church, the patron saint of poor youth. You can inspect the shroud for free, but it is necessary to book the time of visit - more than a million people have already signed up in the queue. It is known that the Pope Francis will come to inspect the Turin raincoat on June 21.
