
The United States is ready to provide Ukraine with credit guarantees in the amount of $ 1 billion as part of financial support in 2015. According to RBC with reference to the press service of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko informed about this by US Vice President Joseph Biden.
He also announced the financing of projects to provide humanitarian assistance to the forced immigrants and victims as a result of the war in the Donbass. The interlocutors coordinated further actions in the field of defense, in particular, the provision of additional assistance to Ukraine, the report said.
Reuters, citing the White House message, reports that in a telephone conversation with Poroshenko, Biden offered additional humanitarian aid for $ 17.7 million.
Earlier, the founder of Open Society Foundations George Soros said about the readiness to invest in the Ukrainian economy. At the same time, the investor called the condition: private investments in the country will be provided with political support for the EU and the USA.
Western financial institutions agreed to allocate financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 40 billion, of which 17.5 billion will pay the International Monetary Fund. March 13, Kyiv received the first tranche from the IMF of $ 5 billion. At the end of March, the EU authorities approved credit support to Ukraine in the amount of 1.8 billion euros. Provision of assistance is designed for two and a half years. Funds will be allocated in the form of a loan by three tranches with a maximum repayment period of 15 years.
