
The strengthening of the ruble associated with a sharp movement of oil prices has ended. According to RBC, the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Ksenia Yudaeva stated this at the financial stability forum. The increase in oil prices stopped pushing the ruble upward, the cost of the Russian currency is stabilized, she added.
"The fortification of the ruble ended, partially ended - the one that we saw, associated with a sharp movement of oil prices up - by 30%, it has ended. Now stabilization has begun," Yudaeva said.
According to the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank, the high volatility of the ruble course will remain for some more time, but this summer it will decrease to the level of the beginning of the fall of 2014.
In January - September 2014, the official ruble exchange rate to the dollar decreased by about 20 percent. In October, the rate of the course accelerated sharply - by mid -December 2014, the dollar rose by another 72 percent, flying up to December 18 to almost 68 rubles. Then the dollar rate was temporarily reduced, but by the beginning of February it rose above 69 rubles, after which it began to quickly decline.
By mid -April, the official dollar exchange rate to the Russian ruble decreased by almost 29 percent (from 69.66 rubles to 49.68 rubles). Brent oil prices for the same time increased by about 15 percent, exceeding the maximum for $ 64 per barrel.
However, below the mark of 50 rubles, only one day lasted a dollar exchange rate. Since April 21, 2015, the Central Bank raised the minimum interest rates at auctions for the provision of foreign currency from April 21, 2015, after which the dollar has risen sharply.
