The test of the modernized missile of the Antei-2500 air defense system, which collapsed on April 22 in the Arkhangelsk region after launch from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, was conducted by the Almaz-Antei air defense concern, Interfax reports with reference to the representative of the concern’s press service.

According to him, at the cosmodrome "experimental work was carried out to assess the characteristics of the controllability of the modernized missile of the Antey-2500 system in the interests of future export deliveries." The interlocutor of the agency noted that the test cycle will continue.

Commenting on the incident, he explained that "due to the deviation of the speed vector in the initial section of the trajectory from the specified security restrictions, a standard self-lifting of the rocket occurred." Interfax interlocutor emphasized that the rocket has fallen within the security zones on the territory of the cosmodrome.

Earlier, the TASS source in the power structures of the region told the agency that an experimental solid fuel rocket with measuring equipment launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, left the trajectory and fell in the area of ​​the village of Zabolotye Kholmogorsky district. As a result of the fall of the fire, the fire did not arise, while it did not contain dangerous components, he claimed.

No department publicly recognized its involvement in the fall of the rocket at the Plesetsk cosmodrome. In particular, the Ministry of Defense and the bosses of the cosmodrome claimed that the rocket did not belong to them.
