In the next few years, the development company Praktika Development plans to demolish one of the first Soviet department stores-the Moscow store on Leninsky Prospekt-and build a shopping and entertainment center in its place.

“Investments in the project are estimated at at least $ 60 million,” Praktika Development General Director Bulat Shakirov told RBC .

“The capital Soviet building in 1963 of the construction cannot be rebuilt, so it must be demolished,” he explained.

Moskva department store, the first Western Slavic Commercial Center in the USSR, was built in 1958-1963. Until the early 2000s, it was considered the largest universal store in Moscow after Gum and Tsum.
