Baryshnikov will play in the play by Hermanis in Brodsky

In the fall of 2015, on the stage of the new theater in Riga, the premiere of the Mikhail Baryshnikov’s monosphere will be held on the works of Joseph Brodsky in the production of Alvis Hermanis.

This was announced in Facebook by the artistic director of the Belarusian Free Theater Nikolai Halezin.

“The premiere is planned to be played on October 15 in Riga, and the American tour is scheduled for 2016. The performance will be played in Russian, ”Khalezin wrote.

The artist of the Kirov Ballet, Mikhail Baryshnikov, who left the USSR in 1974, over the years of work in the United States, became one of the most influential world dancers and choreographers. In addition, he played Broadway, starred in cinema and on television, was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe, nominated for the Tony Award.

In 2011, at the theater festival in Finland, Baryshnikov played a major role in the play by Dmitry Krymov based on Bunin’s story “In Paris” from the Dark Alley cycle.

Baryshnikov was friends with Joseph Brodsky-the poet devoted several poems to him, they together opened the Russian Samovar restaurant in New York.
