Alexandra Shatskikh will conduct a symposium in Moscow

On April 28, the Jewish Museum and the Center for Tolerance will host the symposium "Creativity of Russian Jewish artists: from the vanguard to the present day." The moderator of the meeting will be one of the leading experts in the field of the Russian avant-garde, the chief specialist in the world in the work of Malevich, art critic Alexander Shatsky (Moscow/New York).

The symposium is included in the educational program of the exhibition “Contemporaries of the future. Jewish artists in Russian Avanagd. 1910-1980 " .

Understanding the work of avant -garde artists of Jewish origin as a single process, born at the beginning of the twentieth century, the participants in the symposium in their speeches will affect various sociocultural aspects that are interesting to both the wide audience and representatives of the academic community: myth -making in the art of Mark Shagal, the specificity of collecting and storage of the Heritage Heritage, the phenomenon of the Paris School, the experiments of the Moscow conceptualism ”and others.

The speakers of the meeting will be leading Moscow and St. Petersburg art historians and museum employees, as well as invited representatives of foreign institutions specializing in the study of Russian avant -garde and Jewish culture.
