"The Islamist community in Germany is growing without stopping. All this makes the ground for jihad more fertile. The Salafites want to create an Islamic state in Germany," said the head of the department, Hans -Georg Mausen.

According to the latest data, the number of radical Islamists in Germany is 7.3 thousand people, despite the fact that in early April there were about seven thousand. 680 Islamists left Germany to Iraq and Syria, each third returned back and about 50 people from returning, as counterintelligence suggested, gained combat experience there. More than 12% went to Islam from other religions, 90% have Germany citizenship, journalists report.

In early April, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Germany Thomas de Mesier warned of possible preparing terrorist attacks in Germany, like those that have already occurred in Paris, Copenhagen and Ottawa. “I would be glad to say that terrorist attacks are excluded in Germany. <...> But not a single minister can do this,” he said. According to him, recent terrorist attacks showed that terrorists use new tactics: "They act in several places at once and, in the worst cases, for several days."
