The Investigative Committee brought final charges against Nadezhda Savchenko

Investigators from the Department for Investigation of Crimes Related to the Use of Prohibited Means and Methods of Warfare of the Investigative Committee filed a final charge against Ukrainian citizen Nadezhda Savchenko. As stated on the Investigative Committee website, in the final version, Savchenko is charged with Part 5 of Article 33, paragraphs “a”, “e”, “g”, “l” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (assistance in the murder of two or more persons), Part 3 of the article 33, paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g” and “l” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code (assistance in the attempted murder of two or more persons, committed in a generally dangerous way, motivated by political hatred, by a group of persons), and part 1 Article 322 of the Criminal Code (illegal crossing of the border of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, during the fighting in Lugansk in June last year, Savchenko learned the coordinates of the location of VGTRK journalists and other civilians, and passed them on to the Ukrainian military. Subsequently, it was allegedly at these coordinates that artillery shelling was carried out, under which VGTRK employees Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin were killed. After this, the Investigative Committee claims, Savchenko, under the guise of a refugee, crossed the Russian border. “The investigation has irrefutable evidence in the form of Savchenko’s handwritten notes confirming her involvement in adjusting the fire, data from a ballistic examination of fragments of fragments taken from the bodies of the victims, and photo and video materials of the scene of the death of journalists, including direct artillery shelling, as well as data received from space satellites. All this evidence is presented by the investigation to conduct a situational forensic examination. This is only part of the evidence that, together with others, will be presented to the court,” the statement says. As the department notes, in the near future the materials regarding Savchenko will be separated into separate proceedings from the general case on the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare to complete the investigation, provide the parties for review and transfer to the court for consideration on the merits.
