In Nepal on April 25, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred; Its epicenter was about 80 kilometers from Kathmandu. The earthquake led to significant destruction and death of more than 2200 people - both in Nepal and in the neighboring areas of India and China. At least 17 climbers on Everest were also killed.
