A military parade will not be held in Kiev on May 9, Deputy Chairman of the Kiev City State Administration (KCSA) Pyotr Panteleev told reporters, RBC-Ukraine reports .

“As far as I know, there will be no parade. There will be many holidays dedicated to celebrating the memory of those who laid down their lives for victory. These are holidays with the participation of top officials of the state,” Panteleev said.

According to as the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation from 2015 UNIAN, on May 8, which in Ukraine will be celebrated , a memorial and artistic event “The First Minute of Peace” will take place. In addition, in 2015, the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at monuments and memorials will take place twice: on May 9 and September 2.

On May 9, there will also be a march of military bands and a ceremony of taking the oath of allegiance to the Motherland on the territory of the National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

On April 21, the Ukrainian publication Vesti reported that in Kiev, like last year, there will be no military parade on May 9. The head of the department for interaction with veterans and disabled people of the Department for Women, Veterans, Disabled War and Labor Persons of the Kyiv City State Administration, Valentina Protasova, noted that all commemorative events will be held on the territory of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, and no parades are planned either on Khreshchatyk or on the Maidan. The publication noted that on May 9, a parade of military bands will take place on Glory Square in Kyiv.

On April 9, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law “On the perpetuation of the victory over Nazism in the Second World War of 1939–1945.” In the document, the concept of “Great Patriotic War” is replaced by the wording “World War II”. The same document establishes May 9 as the Day of Victory over Fascism in World War II.

A military parade will not be held in Kyiv on May 9
