In Novosibirsk, an inconsistent monstration was held, its organizer artist Artem Loskutov reports . About 500 people took part in the traditional May Day procession with absurd slogans and elements of the carnival.
Monstration participants gathered on Kalinin Square in the center of Novosibirsk. They intended to join the agreed procession of the Yabloko party. However, the police did not allow them to do this. The police announced that the action was not authorized by the authorities, and offered the participants to switch to the embankment. Earlier, the city hall proposed this place for the action.
The participants came with the posters “Lord forgive”, “freedom, equality, sisterhood”, “how many months are in May?”, “Lepreecons of all countries, connect”, “The cat of mebius walks on its own”, “heterosexual poster” and others. Some were in costumes and brought dressed up dogs.
Monstation participants went along Red Avenue to the side of the center. The police did not let them on the roadway, but did not interfere with the movement along the sidewalks. Having reached Yerevan Street, the procession moved back to Kalinin Square. OMON employees blocked the further movement of the column.
After that, Loskutov invited the participants to turn off posters and inorganized to get to the city hall. On Lenin Square, Monstratens again launched posters and began to demand that the mayor of the city of Anatoly Lokot come to them. Before the monstance, more than five thousand people signed a petition with an appeal to Lokota to personally reach the action. He promised to do this on the air of the Russia 24 channel.
Monstation participants chanted "Lokot, come out! Come out, a vile coward!". However, the mayor did not reach the square. Having skipped "not a man!", The demonstrators began to diverge. They handed over posters to the organizers for the exhibition, which will open on Saturday. None of the participants in the monstration was detained.
"I promised to come to the monstration for the embankment. The monstration did not take place on the embankment. A visit to an inconsistent event was excluded," Lokot later said .
On April 16, Loskutov said that the Novosibirsk City Hall proposed to transfer the rally from the declared Krasnoye Prospekt to the park on the Ob embank. The response stated that the date and venue of monstance coincide with the previously planned city event "as part of the celebration of spring and labor."
Loskutov refused to tolerate monstance, saying that it is traditionally taking place in the cent. As a result, the city hall did not coordinate the action either as a public or as a cultural event. The authorities warned the organizers and participants that they could be held accountable for holding an unauthorized action.
Monstrations in Novosibirsk have been held since 2004. Usually they collect several thousand participants. In 2010, Monstration received the Innovation Award, awarded by the State Center for Contemporary Art and the Ministry of Culture for achievements in the field of art.
Earlier, the Novosibirsk authorities have already refused to coordinate the routes of monstings in the city center. However, it was always possible to achieve a compromise and monstings took place on Krasnoye Prospekt.
