The Russian Embassy in Germany sent a note of protest to the German Foreign Ministry in connection with the refusal of the German authorities to let three Russian bikers into the country. In the message of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such a decision is called "unreasonable, discriminatory and politically motivated." According to the ministry, it is aimed at "disrupting and discrediting" the "Roads of Victory" motor rally, timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War II.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the bikers were detained at Berlin Schönefeld Airport on April 30. The ministry claims they had valid visas.
After a lengthy identity verification procedure, verification of the authenticity of documents and visas, Russian citizens were told that it was impossible to cross the German border, citing a threat to public safety posed by them, and ordered to return to Russia on the next flight.
