Cosmonaut Padalka photographed the crashed Progress spacecraft flying past

Cosmonaut Gennady Padalka, who is on board the International Space Station, photographed on the night of April 30 a Progress emergency truck flying by. This was reported to Interfax by a source in the space industry. Progress flew 170 kilometers from the ISS.

According to the source, the photos turned out to be of poor quality. According to them, it is impossible to assess what external damage the Progress received during the launch into orbit, during separation from the third stage of the launch vehicle.

[Source] noted that attempts to film Progress from the ISS will continue because such images could help experts determine what exactly happened when the ship and the third stage of the Soyuz rocket separated on April 28.

The truck could not be put into the estimated orbit, no telemetry information was received from it. The ship went into an uncontrolled rotation after launch, due to which it was not possible to establish a reliable connection with it.
• The cause of the accident has not yet been established. It was reported that an explosion occurred during the separation of Progress from the third stage of the launch vehicle.
• Roskosmos officially acknowledged that the ship was lost. According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), Progress will fall into the Atlantic Ocean on May 9.
