The writer Rut Rendell died
On May 2, the English writer, the author of detectives and thrillers, Rut Rendell, who also wrote under the pseudonym of Barbara Vine, died in London. Baroness Rendell, awarded the Order of the British Empire, died at the 86th year of her life.

- Rut Rendell wrote more than 60 novels for her long career, some of them are under the pseudonym. One of the most famous characters she created was the inspector Wexford, who appeared in more than 20 works, including in her debut novel by From Doon with Death (1964, in the Russian translation “with love to death, dong”). The last time the inspector appeared in The Vault (2011), in which, according to the plot, he resigned.
- Before becoming a writer, Rendell was a reporter, and even then she showed interest in criminal and mystical stories.
- Rut Rendell is the owner of a large number of awards. In particular, she is a laureate of several awards of the Association of Writers of the Detective Genre and the Edgar POB Prize.
- In many works, Rendell came out films. Pedro Almodovar filmed her detective “Living Flesh”. The novel “Stone Sentence” formed the basis of Claude Shabrov’s film “Ceremony”. Based on the story "New Girlfriend", the film was shot by Francois Ozon.
