In the town of Shatura near Moscow, a man with cancer committed suicide. He shot himself in the head with a gun in his apartment. He was 52 years old.

The fact of suicide was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The gun was registered to the man in due course.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, the day before, the body of a 52-year-old man with cancer was found in the apartment of a residential building on Ilyich Avenue in Shatura with a gunshot wound to the head. He committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun.

Among them was Rear Admiral Vyacheslav Apanasenko. According to his relatives, he decided to commit suicide after his wife was unable to get a prescription for pain medication at the clinic.
In December 2014, the State Duma adopted amendments to the Law on Psychotropic and Narcotic Substances, which should make it easier for patients to access pain relief. The updated law will come into force on July 1, 2015.
