
On Tuesday, May 5, in the State Tretyakov Gallery (GTG), a search was held in Moscow related to an attempt to illegally export works of art from Russia in the amount of about 1.9 million rubles.
The press service of the GTG reported that representatives of law enforcement agencies left the museum, in the gallery itself have “at least information” about the situation, and the General Director of the GTG Zelfir Tregulov is now on a business trip, TASS reports.
According to the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR), the investigating authorities of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee in Moscow opened a criminal case against the head of the territorial election commission of the Lomonosovsky district of Moscow on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code (smuggling of cultural values).
“On April 29, during the passage of customs control at Vnukovo Airport, a 33-year-old man announced the availability of five paintings with a total value of 180 thousand rubles, which were subject to mandatory written customs declaration and the export of which is prohibited or limited from the territory of the Customs Union within the framework of the EURSUS. At the same time, the suspect provided false information about the cost of paintings, which actually is at least 1 million 900 thousand rubles, ”the TFR said.
PS according to Interfax , investigators seized a computer to the GTG, on which, perhaps, an expert opinion was made about the cost of paintings, which was presented at customs in Vnukovo. The detainee in the case of the smuggling of the chairman of the precinct election commission was released on a recognizance not to leave.
