The defendants in the case of theft of apartments of the Ministry of Defense were imprisoned for up to 12 years

The Zyuzinsky Court of Moscow issued a verdict in the case of the theft of 150 apartments from the Ministry of Defense, which were intended for military personnel. The main defendant, ensign Valery Danielyan, received 12 years in prison. Four more defendants in the case were sentenced to terms ranging from five and a half to eight years.

According to the materials of the case, the convicts acted as part of a criminal community, the organizer of which was Danielyan, who served in the Armed Forces with the rank of ensign. He, according to the investigation, developed a fraud plan for the purchase of apartments belonging to the Ministry of Defense and the housing department of the capital.

• The case file states that Danielyan and his accomplices issued fictitious statements for the right to receive social housing for nominees, and then registered the ownership on the basis of forged documents. After that, housing was sold at market prices.
